Therapeutic and Deep Tissue Massage by Katherine Enskat
Massage
Massage is a treatment designed to promote health, wellbeing and relaxation.
It is a space to unwind, to breathe and release tension, an opportunity to engage with the body, to reconnect and come to the centre.
It is useful in releasing muscular tension and pain and can help prepare and recover from physical challenges or events.
Do you do “deep-tissue?”
I work with a range of different pressures from very light energetic work, to slow & deep releasing techniques.
There will typically be elements from different styles including therapeutic, Swedish, remedial massage as well as some deep tissue work. I aim to build up a communication with the person and the body I am working with and that sometimes means it takes a few sessions to get down to the deeper layers of tension.
I aim to always work with the body not against it. I do not try to force anything to happen.
There are times when it is appropriate to work in a slow and focused way. The key with this type of approach is to work with the breath to bring about a significant change by becoming more self-aware.
